Кстати, а что в Оксфорде делали?
Занятно. Я слышала краем уха об отличиях, но не особо вникала. Теперь знаю)

Good luck with that! Is it a reason then for applying to Cambridge? By the way, I noticed you are applying to Germany too... What's there? An English course as well? Or these are two different reasons for applying?
Oh, no. I'm afraid you haven't caught the point. It's an international programm for undergraduates. To spend Summer doing some research work either in Cambridge, or in Ludwig-Maximilians, or in Karolinska University.
So, I really want to bу in Cambridge, because some labs there make research in the fields I'm also engaged.
It's biochemistry your field, is it not? Then Cambridge is a good choice indeed - you know they specialize in science and in England are still considered an excellent option? At the same time Oxford holds more praise for Arts. Good luck! (Now, that I got the point
And I'm thinking of applying for PhD in a private way in some labs.
Thanks a lot!
Sounds impressive! Fingers crossed!
Honoured! And very much look forward to your success!

And actually there's one question that bothers me much. читать дальше

Got scholarships ))) I studied in Latvia, Hungary and UK and then self-sponsored myself in France
Concerning the terms: a week is not at all a long period, no reason to be worried. Many establishments are behind deadlines due to HR issues (sb's ill etc) , it's a very common thing indeed. However, if you are being eaten down by curiosity (of all things!) - do send them a letter (or - better - an e-mail) with a neutral question, so that you could remind about yourself. A pretext with references is a very good one
Well, the deadline is February... But before that I have to find a supervisor there and send all the needed documents for them to judge.
Ok, thanks. I'll do it on weekdays then.
1) you are welcome! Concerning the pretext: since you only sent in your docs a week ago it is quite appropriate to send them an innocent e-mail of the kind "... I have been wondering whether my documents arrived ok, could you please confirm blabla..."
2) I am all Arts ))) BA in English philology, MA in history, postgraduate research in literature... In terms of career - teaching and HR , I have been rotating in the academic/business environment for quite a while and right now settled down with business only
1) Ok. I'll follow your advice! Thanks again
2) God...That's interesting, but absolutely not my field)))
I'm bachelor in applied physics and math. And still don't know where to apply myself)
I guess, you love what you do, and that's awesome!
I change things when I stop loving them. Did it with teaching when realised I reached the top. And I am in the same period right now - reached the top and move on to a new agenda
Concerning yourself - go for PhD if in doubt. It will give you time to think things over without losing the only qualifications you have for now. Unless you have a strong drive for something else - but since you are in doubt I conclude there is no urge of any other type at the moment
PhD is no doubt. It's a goal for the nearest five years. I mean...what to do after. With this kind of education. I'd love to stay in science, but it's too opaque nowadays.
well, if you reach good results one of the options will be to stay abroad. I met quite a number of Russian
scientists both in UK and Germany - they are highly respected. Question is of course in which country you see your future. But then if you are inclined to research I understand Russian labs can offer some options too. The financial aspect might be tricky of course but then at least respect and beloved profession you will secure for yourself.
there are lots of ifs and buts in both staying here and going abroad.
But as you said we'll live to see. At least two years)
